New Duties for Kwame Anthony Appiah

Kwame Anthony Appiah, the Laurence S. Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University, was appointed chair of the board of scholars of the international nonprofit organization, Facing History and Ourselves. The organization’s self-stated mission is to “engage students of diverse backgrounds in an examination of racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism in order to promote the development of a more humane and informed citizenry.”

Professor Appiah is a native of Ghana and earned a Ph.D. at Cambridge University. Before coming to Princeton in 2002, he taught at Harvard University. He has been a member of the board of trustees of Facing History and Ourselves since 1993. He is also president of the PEN American Center.
