Samuel Mukasa Is One of Three Finalists for Provost at the University of Connecticut

The University of Connecticut has named a field of three finalists for the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs. The three candidates recently visited campus for interviews and public forums. One of the three candidates is Black.

Samuel B. Mukasa is dean of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He has held that post since 2016. From 2011 to 2016, Dr. Mukasa was dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of New Hampshire. Earlier, he spent more than 20 years on the faculty of the department of geological sciences at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Mukasa is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where he majored in biology. He holds a master’s degree in geology from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. in geochemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
