New Duties for Five Black Administrators at Colleges and Universities

Pamela Wimbush was appointed assistant dean of University College at Hampton University in Virginia. She will also serve as director of Hampton University Online. She is the former director of the Instructional Resource Center at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Wimbush holds two master’s degrees from the University of Maryland. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational administration through the online program of the University of Wyoming.

Eddie Gisemba is the new director of health promotion for students and assistant dean of students at Oberlin College in Ohio. He previously was assistant director of wellness programs at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

A graduate of Hiram College in Ohio, Gisemba holds a master of public health degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Ivory W. Lyles was appointed director of Cooperative Extension and associate dean for engagement in the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources at the University of Nevada, Reno. He was a professor, dean, and director of land grant programs at Alcorn State University in Mississippi.

Dr. Lyles is a graduate of Alcorn State University, where he majored in agricultural economics. He holds a master’s degree in extension education from Mississippi State University and a doctorate in agricultural education, community and rural development from Ohio State University.

Eunice Tarver was named provost of the Northeast Campus of Tulsa Community College in Oklahoma. She has been serving as the assistant vice president of diversity and inclusion at the college and will continue to do so.

Tarver is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and is completing work on a doctorate in the social foundations of education at Oklahoma State University.

Zillah M. Fluker is the new vice president for institutional advancement at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. She is the former vice president for institutional advancement at Alabama State University in Montgomery.

A native of Zimbabwe, Fluker is a graduate of Alabama State University. She holds a master’s degree and an MBA from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and is completing work on a doctorate in educational leadership at Alabama State University.
