Tennessee State University Looks to Add Several New Academic Programs

Glenda Glover, president of Tennessee State University in Nashville, has announced that the university is establishing several new academic programs.

Pending approval from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, there will be a new executive Ph.D. program in higher education leadership and a Ph.D. program in public health. The university has also sought approval for the establishment of a bachelor’s degree program in nonprofit management and leadership.

The university is also in the planning stages for introducing master’s degree programs in engineering and hospitality management.

Dr. Glover also stated that the university will enhance its focus on its undergraduate bachelor’s degree program in nursing and may eliminate “low-producing” programs. “We want to make sure all programs are up to standard and relevant with the right amount of students,” Dr. Glover said. “There is no need keeping programs that have low participation.”
