W.B. Allen has been named a 2018-19 Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The Conservative Thought and Policy Program began in 2013 as a way to promote intellectual diversity on the Boulder campus. The initiative, which is supported entirely by private funds, seeks highly visible scholars who are deeply engaged in either the analytical scholarship or practice of conservative thinking and policymaking or both. Dr. Allen will teach two courses in the 2018 fall semester and two courses in the spring 2019 semester.
Dr. Allen is professor emeritus of political philosophy at Michigan State University and dean emeritus of Michigan State’s James Madison College. Earlier, he served for many years on the faculty at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California.
Professor Allen is the author of many books including George Washington: America’s First Progressive (Peter Lang International, 2008) and Rethinking Uncle Tom: The Political Thought of Harriet Beecher Stowe (Lexington Books, 2009).
Dr. Allen is a graduate of Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University.
