Professor Dollye Robinson Honored for 60 Years of Service to Jackson State University

Dollye M.E. Robinson, who has served on the faculty at Jackson State University for nearly 60 years, was honored with the title of Dean Emerita. She is the former dean of the College of Liberal Arts and is a full professor of music at the university.

Professor Robinson joined the Jackson State faculty in 1952 as an instructor of music and assistant band director. Dr. Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University. She earned a second bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

Carolyn  W. Meyers, president of Jackson State, stated, “Dr. Robinson’s lifetime of service and commitment to excellence has been a tremendous asset to this university and its students.”

The College of Liberal Arts building on the Jackson State campus is named in her honor.
