Adriel A. Hilton is the new dean of students and diversity officer at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The university, located just east of Pittsburgh, enrolls about 2,400 students. African Americans make up 6 percent of the undergraduate student body.
In accepting the post, Dr. Hilton said that “Seton Hill’s commitment to student engagement, diversity and inclusivity is inspirational. I would like to focus on creating opportunities and partnerships, which will be a hallmark of my tenure, as we work together to achieve a sense of belonging for faculty, staff and students of this great institution.”
Dr. Hilton had been serving as director of the Myrtle Beach Metropolitan Campus of Webster University. Earlier, Dr. Hilton served as chief of staff and executive assistant to the president at Grambling State University in Louisiana; as an assistant professor and director of the higher education graduate program at Western Carolina University; as assistant vice president for inclusion initiatives at Grand Valley State University in Michigan; and as executive assistant to the president and assistant secretary to the board of trustees and chief diversity officer at Upper Iowa University.
Dr. Hilton holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta and a master’s of applied social science (public administration) degree from Florida A&M University. He earned a Ph.D. in higher education from Morgan State University in Baltimore.
