Maurice Edington has been appointed provost and vice president of academic affairs at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. The educational institution is a historically Black university that enrolls just under 10,000 students.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to have this opportunity,” said Dr. Edington. “I’m excited about the opportunity to partner with the president, the board of trustees, faculty and other stakeholders as we continue our efforts to implement the goals outlined in the strategic plan to support student success.”
Dr. Edington had been serving as vice president of the Division of Strategic Planning Analysis and Institutional Effectiveness at the university since February 2017. Prior to that, he served as the university’s founding dean of the College of Science and Technology from 2013 to 2017.
Dr. Edington holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
