Three African American Men Appointed to New Faculty Positions

Walter C. Rucker has been appointed as acting full professor of African American studies and history at Emory University. He was a full professor and graduate vice chair of history at Rutgers University.

Dr. Rucker holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Morehouse College in Atlanta and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Riverside.

Eddie S. Glaude Jr. has been named the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor at Princeton University. He has been a professor at Princeton since 2002 and currently serves as the chair of the department of religion and African American studies.

Professor Glaude is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he majored in political science. He holds a master’s degree in African American studies from Temple University in Philadelphia and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in religion from Princeton University.

Reginald McGee has been named assistant professor of mathematics at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Science Foundation’s Mathematical Biosciences Institute.

Dr. McGee holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences from Florida A&M University and a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in mathematics from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
