Marcus Guess has been named interim chief of police at Albany State University. He has served in various roles at the university including assistant chief of police, as commander of the patrol division, chief investigator, captain of police as the commander of the patrol division, lieutenant of police, sergeant of police, a police officer, and as commander over the internal affairs division and training division.
Guess holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Phoenix and a master of public administration degree in public safety from Columbus State University in Georgia.
Keith Smith has been named vice president for student affairs at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He most recently served as associate vice president for community and governmental affairs at Nash Community College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Dr. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in speech and theatre with a concentration in mass communications and a master’s degree in education and education media from North Carolina A&T State University, as well as a doctorate in higher education administration from North Carolina State University.
Ann McCorvey has been named vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer at Davidson College in North Carolina. She currently serves as deputy executive vice president and treasurer at George Washington University.
McCorvey holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA both in accounting from the University of West Florida.
Joffery Gaymon has been named vice president for enrollment at Auburn University in Alabama. She was vice president for enrollment and student affairs at the University of West Florida.
Dr. Gaymon holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia College and State University, and a doctorate in higher education administration from Northwestern University.
Kristen Barnes has been named the inaugural assistant director of faculty development and diversity in arts and sciences at Columbia University. She was a graduate student and research assistant in the department of education policy and social analysis at Columbia’s Teachers College.
Barnes holds a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from George Washington University and a master’s degree from Teachers College of Columbia University. She plans to begin Ph.D. studies in 2020.
