The College of Education at historically Black Bowie State University in Maryland is launching three signature programs to prepare educators for high-demand areas where there is a critical gap in qualified professionals. The programs offer educators the opportunity to complete graduate coursework that will provide them with the knowledge, skills, and experiences required to complete professional certifications or continuing education credits.
The first program is the Summer Institute: Conditional Licensed Teachers. This program will provide conditionally licensed teachers with the skills needed to become fully certified educators. This was established in response to the broad teacher shortages throughout the state of Maryland.
The second program is the Athletic Director Academy, the region’s only five-course leadership program leading to a professional athletic director certification. Participants in this academy will earn continuing education credits and a Registered Athletics Administrator certificate.
The third program is the Leadership Institute. This institute will bring together experienced education leaders with at least a master’s degree together for a three-day institute focused on design thinking through interactive learning. The interdisciplinary seminar will address leadership ideas, values, cultures, and contemporary issues that affect global society and education.
