Students at 35 HBCUs Can Receive Full-Tuition Scholarships at Suffolk University Law School
The scholarship is named for Thaddeus Alexander Kitchener, who was the first student of color to graduate from Suffolk Law. Originally from Jamaica, Kitchener graduated in 1913. Before being accepted at Suffolk Law, Kitchener was working as a janitor at what is now Simmons University in Boston. After law school, Kitchener continued to work as a janitor until at least 1918.
North Carolina Central University Partners With Wake Technical Community College for Accounting
Under the agreement, students who earn an associate degree in accounting and finance at Wake Technical Community College may now transfer those credits to North Carolina Central University and complete a bachelor's degree in accounting in two years.

Grambling State University Cancels Classes and Institutes a Curfew After Shooting Incident
Historically Black Grambling State University in Louisiana canceled classes for two days and instituted a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. after a shooting incident on campus in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 17. Eight people were shot, one of whom was killed. Only one of the injured was a current student.
Cancer Research Funding Renewed at Meharry Medical College and Tennessee State University
The partnership was formed in 1999 between Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and historically Black Meharry Medical College. The partnership has been continually funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2000. Historically Black Tennessee State University joined the partnership in 2011.

The three endowed professorships are the first in Morgan State University’s 154-year history and will place the university in a strong position to recruit some of the world’s best researchers and academic minds.

Communications Programs at Tuskegee University and Auburn University Enter Partnership
Under the agreement, Auburn University and Tuskegee University will offer joint programs in various communication specializations. The association also sets in place a program through which students can earn a bachelor's degree in communication from Tuskegee and then a master's degree in communication from Auburn.
Historically Black Florida A&M University Joins the Peace Crops Prep Program
The Peace Corps announced it is partnering with 11 more universities in 2021 to provide the Peace Corps Prep certificate program to undergraduate students. Florida A&M University is the only historically Black college or university among the 11 new partnering institutions.
Morgan State University to Participate in a Major NASA Research Project
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has announced the creation of a consortium of higher education institutions and other organizations for the new Goddard Earth Sciences Technology and Research (GESTAR) II center. Historically Black Morgan State University will be a major contributor.

Hydroponics is a technique used to grow and produce food crops in a closed-loop system that reduces the use of water resources without the need for chemical fertilizers. Aquaponics is the integrated culture of fish, plants, and beneficial microorganisms grown in a soilless environment.

Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, is partnering with eight historically black colleges and universities to offer scholarships that cover at least 30 percent of tuition for dozens of the university’s leading graduate programs.
Delaware State University to Open an Early Childhood Innovation Center on Campus
In partnership with the state Department of Education and Department of Health and Social Services, Delaware State University will use $30.6 million in state funding to support the construction and launch of the Early Childhood Innovation Center, invest in Delaware's childcare workforce, and expand access to affordable childcare for Delaware families in need.

Historically Black Savannah State University in Georgia has entered into an agreement with Augusta Technical College to allow for an easy transition to Savannah State. The university also has established a dual degree program with the South University School of Pharmacy.
Good News! Accrediting Agency Moves Wilberforce University Off of Probation Status
The university was placed on probation in June 2018 when it was determined to be out of compliance with Higher Learning Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation and was granted an extension based on the accrediting agency's temporary emergency COVID-19 policy.

Kirkland & Ellis Donates Its Fees Awarded in the Maryland Higher Education Desegegation Case
Kirkland & Ellis is entitled to fees of $12.5 million from the settlement of the longstanding case allocating $577 million over the next 10 years to four historically Black universities in the state of Maryland. But the law has announced that it will donate the fees to seven organizations.
Howard University Expands its Partnership With Alto Pharmacy
Under the new agreement, Alto Pharmacy will sponsor five scholarships for pharmacy students in each of the next three years. This expands on the paid internship program Alto Pharmacy has had with Howard University.
Xavier University of Louisiana Establishes a 3+3 Year Degree Program to a Juris Doctorate
Xavier University students will have the opportunity to be directly admitted into the CWRU Law School after completing three years of undergraduate study. Once admitted, the CWRU Law School JD program can be completed in three years.
Florida Memorial University Cuts 18 Academic Programs, Reduces Salaries
This past July, historically Black Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens was placed on "probation for good cause" by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The university has now taken a number of steps to comply with the accreditor's concerns.
Alaska Air Teams Up With University of Maryland Eastern Shore to Diversity Pilot Ranks
A 2020 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report says 3.4 percent of airline pilots and flight engineers were Black. Alaska Air's partnership with the aviation program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will offset the high cost of commercial airline flight training.
Benedict College to Offer a New Master’s Degree Program in Sports Management
The college currently offers a bachelor's degree in sport management which is the second most populous undergraduate program on campus with an average enrollment of 250 students per semester. Beginning in January, students can enroll in a two-semester, master's degree program.

The partnership provides a seamless transition for community college students receiving an associate's degree in applied science degree to gain guaranteed admittance to North Carolina Central University. This will reduce the total cost of obtaining a bachelor's degree for students who complete their first two years at community college.
