Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship in Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement of Underserved Populations in Health-Related Research

ASU Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation

Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation (http://nursingandhealth.asu.edu) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for one postdoctoral scholar position in the area of Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement of Underserved Populations in Health-related Research.

Edson College offers a rich interprofessional research, mentoring, and teaching environment with unique and growing transdisciplinary PhD and PhD/DNP programs and centers encompassing health equity; health promotion and disease prevention; interprofessional practice, education, and research; and healthy and resilient aging. Postdoctoral fellows will have opportunities to work with faculty fully engaged in a variety of research programs aligned with these centers, who have outreach, recruitment, and community engagement experience that spans both traditional and non-traditional approaches, and who collaborate with a wide-ranging group of community and healthcare organizations with the ultimate goal of improving the economic, social, and cultural health and vitality of local, state, national, and global communities. Edson College faculty collaborate across professions, other colleges, and universities and have current or recent funding from NIH, PCORI, the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education, HRSA, Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, and several other local, regional, and national organizations.

The postdoctoral scholars selected will join the 5th cohort of postdoctoral scholars at ASU as part of the Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship Program with a start date of August of 2025. The goal of the program is to support the career development of outstanding Ph.D. recipients from underrepresented populations with great potential for advancing the ASU Charter. After successful completion of the program, scholars will have an opportunity to transition to a tenure track appointment at ASU.

The program seeks applicants whose professional preparedness, experience, and accomplishments are informed by experiences working with and within groups historically underrepresented or underserved in higher education in the United States. Where pools of qualified applicants are strong, priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate, through prior actions and achievements, intentional and actioned commitment to inclusive excellence. Examples of such contributions are research, teaching, mentorship, service or creative activity focused on empowering underserved populations that increases equitable access and inclusion in fields where historically excluded populations are underrepresented.
Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation is committed to providing individualized mentorship and career development to ensure each candidate is well prepared to succeed in a future tenure track appointment. Career development and community building will also occur through programmatic support through the Office of Inclusive Excellence in partnership with the ASU Graduate College’s Postdoctoral Affairs Office. Scholars will have the opportunity to engage with previous cohort members and their own cohort for professional development opportunities but also social/networking events and activities to ensure scholars have the best experience at ASU and develop a strong sense of belonging and engagement.
