Teaching Professor (all ranks) or Instructor School of Integrated Engineering

Location: Arizona State University – West Campus

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) seek an energetic individual for the position of Teaching Professor (all ranks) or Instructor in our new School of Integrated Engineering at the ASU West Valley campus in southwest Phoenix. A minimum of a M.S. in engineering and evidence of teaching experience in an undergraduate engineering program is required. A Ph.D. in electrical engineering or engineering education is preferred.

At ASU, we are in the process of transforming engineering education with innovative models and modalities to make excellent education more accessible for all. As a part of this process, we have created a new School of Integrated Engineering which will offer degrees that holistically integrate engineering content and mindsets with other disciplines. Our first offering will be an Engineering Science degree with concentrations in Business and Microelectronics. Job duties include designing new pedagogically innovative courses for the new degree, and teaching assigned classes in fall and spring semesters both in person and online primarily at ASU West Valley but also at our Tempe campus. The successful candidate for this position will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active and experiential learning, will share our passion for engineering education, is informed by experience with industry and community, and will be effective in a highly collaborative and team-driven environment.

Appointment will be at the Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or (Full) Teaching Professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. The starting date for the position is flexible with the earliest start date of January 1, 2024.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Earned M.S. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, engineering education, or related discipline by the time of appointment
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, as appropriate to the candidate’s rank

Desired qualifications:  

  • Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to teaching
  • Experience in the microelectronics field, and/or experience in teaching hands-on, experiential, project-based engineering design courses
