About the Opportunity:

Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.

Responsibilities:

This role will work to understand career aspirations, devise strategies that encourage student engagement, assist with job search, and support career outcomes for Brown’s growing master’s student population. The incumbent will provide career education and professional development to our Masters students as well as Master’s alumni pursuing roles in industries such as education, government, healthcare, business, technology, and nonprofits. They will develop and implement unique career education programming for students with the career team while utilizing career development theories and modern methodologies. The ideal candidate will be excited to work with adult students and will be ready to provide support to our executive master’s programs as well as to early-career master’s students. This position is also expected to perform employer and alumni outreach and programming, and build relationships with campus partners, employer partners, and alumni to improve opportunities for current Master’s students.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in coaching, human resources, higher education, or related fields or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with program development, and facilitating programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and collaborate with a diverse group of constituents (for example students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, colleagues, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Evidence of public speaking experience; demonstrating strong presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
  • Experience working with Handshake preferred.
