Responsibilities:
The Director of Communications and Outreach is responsible for setting and executing a strategic approach to all outward facing communication activities in the Office of College Admission, including, but not limited to, web content, designing multiple and content specific publications, coordinating recruitment activities directed at prospective applicants, including myriad and market segmented strategic email campaigns to 200K+ prospective applicant sand managing all on-campus events related to outreach and yield.

This position collaborates with the Office of University Communications to design, edit, manage the production of a variety print and electronic communications for internal and external audiences. Makes strategic use of data to inform the development of communication plans and materials.

This position partners closely with colleagues in the Office of University Communications to ensure consistency of messaging and adherence to university standards. The Director coordinates closely with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure applicants and admitted students clearly understand the process and offerings.
Qualifications:
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years direct experience in the field of marketing and communications, preferably both within and outside an academic environment.

Experience

  • Experience in developing integrated social media efforts into broader media and marketing strategies
  • Experience in event management, media relations and website management
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing teams and leading collaborative efforts across departments
  • Track record of successful implementation of communications and outreach strategies.
  • Experience in digital and/or print marketing
  • Experience with implementing long-term strategies for to elevate communications efforts
  • Experience with strategic planning and ability to align communication efforts with Brown’s mission

Expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
  • Knowledge of Slate or similar CRM preferred
