Job Description:
SUMMARY:
In this role, the Director provides oversight of student research endeavors. The Director will develop and oversee curriculum for students related to research, collate and organize research opportunities for students facilitating matching students with available and appropriate mentors. They will provide research design, basic statistics, and writing support as needed. The Director will also oversee the Summer Research Assistantship (SRA) program, which provides financial support for student research in the 10-week summer between Years 1 and 2 at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The Director will introduce the program to students, recruit reviewers and lead the decision-making process for those who are accepted for funding, and work with other administrators in organizing the Academic Symposium (a showcase for students who received summer funding). This role works closely with the Basic and Translational Research (BTR) program director and the Director of the Scholarly Concentrations (SC) program and reports to the Associate Dean for Medical Education.
This is a part time, 7.5 hour per week position. This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 1 year from the date of hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- MD/DO or PhD required
- At least 3 years of experience with clinical research or a proven record of research and/or formal research training
- Positive consideration for medical education experience
- And/or equivalent combination of education and experience
