Event Coordinator

Brown Universityb=

Job Description:

Brown’s Division of Biology and Medicine – composed of the Program in Biology and The Warren Alpert Medical School – is home to numerous centers of excellence in education, biomedical research, and clinical care. The Office of BioMedical Communications provides a comprehensive, holistic communications operation that builds visibility and reputation for the Division of Biology and Medicine and increases engagement with various constituencies. Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean of BioMedical Communications, the office is organized into three core teams – Editorial; Digital; and Events – that work collaboratively to create multi-modal communications and experiences. Among these is Medicine@Brown, The Warren Alpert Medical School’s award-winning alumni magazine, which is published three times a year with a circulation of 15,000 per issue. This, and its sister publication, Health Discoveries, a consumer magazine with a circulation of 45,000 twice a year, have significant carryover content on the web and social media.

The Office is also responsible for the Division’s 132 websites, a number that continues to grow and represents roughly two-thirds of the University’s web presence. BioMed Communications produces a number of periodic newsletters for both internal and external audiences and oversees the top-level social media channels for the Medical School. The events team creates successful, memorable experiences through roughly 250 events per year, including signature weekends like Commencement-Reunion and Family Weekend.

The Division of Biology and Medicine’s Event Coordinator works with the Event Manager to provide support for activities related to the Division’s extensive events and related communications efforts. This position’s primary role will consist of coordinating details for assigned events by working directly with the client and service providers to produce events that meet the high standards of the Division. Additionally, the Event Coordinator will support communications activities related to outreach, such as event publicity, invitations, websites, and other tasks related to the outreach goals of the department.

Some weekends and evenings are required.
