About the Opportunity:

Established in 2021, Brown Arts Institute (BAI) is a university-wide research enterprise and catalyst for the arts at Brown that creates new work and supports, amplifies, and adds new dimensions to the creative practices of Brown’s arts departments, faculty, students, and community. Through year-round programming, research-focused courses, initiatives, collaborations, and partnerships, along with rigorous artistic and academic programs, BAI commissions and presents new work on campus, across Providence, Rhode Island, and beyond, from students, faculty, and on-campus arts groups, as well as in collaboration with forward-focused visiting artists and other performing arts organizations.

Responsibilities:

The Events Coordinator assists BAI staff with event support and logistical planning for events taking place within BAI venues. Key duties include the advanced planning to ensure smooth events, day-of management and support of events, space and venue upkeep, and general administrative support related to campus spaces.

Qualifications:

Education 

  • Required:  BA, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  • 1-2  years in event support or similar work
  • Previous work in an arts organization or academic setting preferred

Additional physical demands and working conditions:

The Event Logistics Coordinator will have a flexible schedule based on the event needs of the BAI. On non-event days, the Coordinator will work a standard 8:30am – 5:00pm shift, but on days when events are planned, the Coordinator will have a shifting schedule.  This schedule will be planned a minimum of 1 week in advance.
