The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University invites applications for Program Manager for the Saxena Center for Contemporary South Asia. The Program Manager works closely with the Faculty Director of the Center for Contemporary South Asia (CCSA) in the development of the programmatic, administrative, and financial operations of the center, working collaboratively to achieve the strategic goals of the center, and making data driven decisions on behalf of the center as appropriate.
The Program Manager oversees institutional and research partnerships in the United States and South Asia, manages the Centers’ winter and summer fellowship programs, and leads special projects in consultation with the Director. The Program Manager advises faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students on opportunities to connect with the center and plays an active and critical role in community building for the center.
The Program Manager provides oversight to the day-to-day operations of the center, conducting annual budget planning and forecasting, and actively supporting external fundraising activities. The Program Manager identifies staffing needs as supervisor to the Events & Communications Coordinator and undergrad student researchers and assistants of the Center. The Program Manager oversees programming for five event series, which produce a minimum of 50 events each year. The Program Manager manages all communications for the center including the annual report, three websites, social media platforms and donor communications.
The Program Manager serves as the department manager for South Asian Studies and is the liaison between CCSA and other departments responsible for determining University-wide policy, procedures, and services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years operational, administrative, or managerial experience; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong strategic planning skills for budgeting and analysis, event planning, and program management.
- Demonstrated ambassadorial skills to interface with international visitors and various levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated success working in a diverse environment with a clear understanding of the issues of diversity, especially as it relates to South Asian cultures and contexts.
