Job Description:
Position Purpose
The Project Coordinator will oversee and facilitate day-to-day implementation of a research study that will examine co-use of tobacco and cannabis among young adults. This study is primarily laboratory-based. This position will provide oversight of the day-to-day conduct of the project including supervision of research assistants, participant recruitment, retention of participants, data collection, and administrative coordination of the project. The role will involve working with individuals participating in tobacco- and cannabis-related research to be assessed during in-person research protocols. This position will involve supervision of research assistants in their work on the project and training research assistants on study protocols. The position will be involved with the administration of laboratory assessments and collection of biosamples. This position will be in charge of the organization and maintenance of project documents and files and will help with assembling materials for IRB modifications and progress reports.
The Project Coordinator will ensure the smooth running of the research team, including serving as overall staff coordinator, supervising student employees, and acting centrally to help keep staff on track fiscally and operationally. The position will perform comprehensive grant management functions and assist the Principal Investigators in planning for new projects as well as managing logistics for current ones.
Primary research-related responsibilities of the Project Coordinator will include (1) organizing and leading internal team meetings; (2) managing the workflow across the research study, including taking part in recruitment efforts, (3) contributing to data acquisition, collection, and cleaning, (4) developing and testing study operations manuals and assessment protocols, and (5) managing regulatory reports to the IRB and NCI.
Primary administrative responsibilities of the Project Coordinator will include (1) assisting with managing team funds, (2) managing/participating in the interview process of all future team members, and (3) overall office and project supply management. This position will also assist with any other duties as specified by the PIs. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, flexible, resourceful, efficient, and have experience working with local and national collaborators.

Job Qualifications & Competencies
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, or related field plus 4-7 years of full-time research experience required, or Master’s degree in public health, psychology or related field, plus 3-5 years of full-time research experience.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is required.
- Experience with human subjects applications and modifications is required.
- Coursework in research design and statistics and addiction/substance use is preferred.
- Knowledge of research methodology and reporting; experience and familiarity with IRB procedures and experience and familiarity with grant funding.
- Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics software) is required.
- Experience managing databases is required.
- Experience with supervision of diverse professional staff required, including staff development and motivation.
- Experience in project coordination and timely completion of project goals

- Must be able to work late afternoons, evenings, and some weekends when necessary.
