Associate Provost for Student Success

California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a distinguished public undergraduate and master's level institution located in San Luis Obispo, California, seeks a new Associate Provost for Student Success (APSS). Reporting directly to the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the APSS is responsible for fostering and leading collaboration and partnership within Academic Affairs, as well as providing creative and visionary leadership in the development, prioritization, review, and improvement of Academic Affairs-focused student success programs and initiatives. In this role, the APSS leads student success efforts within Academic Affairs while establishing and maintaining strong collaborations across the university in support of student success initiatives and priorities, with a particular emphasis on creating and maintaining partnerships with the division of Student Affairs. The APSS collaborates with all members of the Office of the Provost leadership team, as well Academic Affairs constituents including, but not limited to, associate/assistant vice provosts, deans, program directors, department chairs, faculty, and staff. The preferred start date is Winter/Spring 2024.

The APSS provides continuity, connection, and communication for a holistic, seamless, diverse, equitable, and inclusive student experience, with strong partnerships within Academic Affairs and across divisions to facilitate student development. This position will facilitate the convening and work of a cross-divisional effort to continue the design, implementation, and assessment of a sustainable and dynamic university-wide strategy to continually support student success. The APSS will assist the Office of the Provost in building and sustaining collaborative networks within Academic Affairs and across the university to support and enhance student retention, persistence, progress to degree and graduation rates; promote inclusion; and advance student success and degree completion. In particular, the APSS will be responsible for ensuring the creation and implementation of a coordinated, comprehensive strategy to address equity gaps across all student groups (e.g., historically underrepresented, First-Gen, Pell, transfer, gender, veteran, returning, and out of state students), with an emphasis on Cal Poly Scholars.
