Department Profile
The Business Systems Analyst reports to the Vice President of Student Services and works closely with the Dean of Counseling and the Counseling Department. This position works closely with systems developed to assist counseling and related appointments, student education planning, academic scheduling, and early alert projects.
Summary
The Business Systems Analyst, serves as a business analyst and technical support for information systems. The Business Systems Analyst analyzes current business processes and oversees the integration and implementation process of effective business practices into the appropriate information systems. The Business Systems Analyst works and collaborates with Instructional Technology professionals to determine if appropriate internal or external solutions currently exist, or whether new solutions are required and feasible. This position works with one or more area leaders, including the Vice Presidents, within one or more operational areas to align technology solutions with institutional strategies.
Distinguishing Career Features
The position requires expanded capability to consult with users from multiple functions, multiple platform applications, lead complex projects involving multiple departments/committees, work independently on multiple platforms. The incumbent in this position must have a solid understanding of PeopleSoft, and its integration with other moderate-to-complex systems (e.g., Degree Audit Reporting System, Student Records, SARS, EAB, ClockWork) and supporting data systems. This position will specify requirements for business information systems and incorporate new technical systems to improve workflow, production, efficiency, and effectiveness. Incumbents must have a strong knowledge of the business area that they support (student services, academic affairs, business services, finance, and/or HR information systems) and will demonstrate the ability to align key drivers and measures of success for the areas, including short- and long-term recommendations for related technologies.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management information systems, or a related field; and five years of progressively responsible professional experience in advising clients on technology solutions, conducting business process analyses, and performing basic project oversight responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in an academic setting is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
1. At least 2 years of experience in an academic setting.
2. At least 2 years of experience working with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
3. Knowledgeable in state/federal reporting requirements for higher education institutions.
4. Have working knowledge of project management and change management methods (i.e. analyzing software setups and providing technology solutions).
5. Experience with Degree Audit Reporting System, Student Records, SARS, EAB Navigate, ClockWorks, HighPoint.

Physical Abilities

Requires the ability to work in areas subject to exposure to risk of shock from electronic equipment. Salary/Fringe Benefits
Grade 52 on District Classified Salary Schedule ($8,569.03 -$13,840.99/month).
Initial placement of employees on Classified Salary schedule is at Step 1. After six months of successful probationary employment, employee is placed at Step 2.
Health and welfare benefits include District contribution for medical/dental/vision benefits and employee life insurance ($50,000). (Cash in lieu option available on medical insurance.)
Participation in the Public Employee’s Retirement System that is also integrated with Social Security.

Conditions of Employment
This is a full-time, 12-calendar month categorically funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon funding and the provisions of the CSEA collective bargaining agreement.
Hours of employment are:
Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Employment is to be effective as soon as possible following completion of the selection process.
Individual who is offered employment shall be required to obtain fingerprints for a criminal history clearance through the State Department of Justice and remit the required fee for processing the fingerprints, Federal Bureau of Investigation (no fee if obtained at Cerritos College Campus Police Station), produce an original social security card, and submit negative TB test results (must be within the past four years or within the last 60 days if not previously employed in a school district in California) before employment.
