This position reports directly to the Chancellor of San Mateo County Community College District. College of San Mateo (CSM) is located in the northern corridor of Silicon Valley. Since 1922, CSM has been a gateway to higher education leading to university transfer, career preparation and advancement, and professional and personal development. Annually, the College currently serves approximately 15,000 students who take day, evening, and weekend classes.

College of San Mateo is a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution and the oldest of three colleges within the nationally renowned San Mateo County Community College District. College of San Mateo is governed by the five-member Board of Trustees of San Mateo County Community College District. The five members are elected by voters from designated areas of the County for four-year terms. One non-voting student member is appointed for a one-year term. The day-to-day operations of the District are managed by the Board-appointed Chancellor and the day-to-day operations of CSM are managed by the Chancellor-appointed President, as is true for its two sister colleges.

SMCCCD seeks a visionary leader with high emotional intelligence and outstanding communication and advocacy skills with the ability to lead and inspire a team of dedicated faculty and staff in accomplishing the strategic goals of the College and District. The President is responsible for the delivery of educational and other services provided by the College and for the supervision of the senior administrative staff and educational programs and services of the College. The President provides high-level direction regarding the overall operation of the College and delegates to the Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, and other management staff the supervision of other administrative, teaching, and classified staff.
