Case Western Reserve University invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs (Provost) will be expected to partner with newly appointed President Kaler in the development and implementation of an ambitious agenda for CWRU’s future, to celebrate the accomplishments of the institution’s past, and to energize the campus in its quest for ever increasing academic distinction, so as to enable CWRU to transcend from recognized excellence to world class eminence.

Case Western Reserve University seeks to appoint a visionary provost who is a distinguished academic and an accomplished academic leader with a track record of success in the hiring and retention of outstanding and diverse faculty, in increasing academic reputation and quality, in facilitating the increase of extramural research funding, in supporting a high-value residential college experience for undergraduate students, and in developing strategies to expand diversity, equity and inclusion across the university with an appreciation of the need for a campus environment that is welcoming and nurturing to all.
Furthermore, Case Western Reserve University seeks as provost a leader with a record of strong financial acumen and extensive budgetary experience, able to allocate, reallocate, and deploy resources strategically to drive excellence. Given these challenging times, priority will be assigned to candidates who have either decanal experience in a large college or school at an AAU or peer university, or experience as a provost or deputy/associate/vice provost at an AAU or peer research university.
The next Provost must have integrity, a strong moral compass, and excellent communication skills. The Provost should embrace transparency in making timely and thoughtful decisions regarding all responsibilities that fall within the Provost’s purview while courageously charting a path for an enhanced future characterized by academic innovation and entrepreneurship. The next Provost must have an earned doctorate, achieved distinction as a scholar, researcher, and teacher, and possess academic credentials commensurate with an appointment of a tenured full professor in a major research university.
