Headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, the mission of the Dean of Students Office for the Worldwide Campus is to “support students in pursuit of their academic and professional endeavors, to safeguard an inclusive global community, and to inspire affinity for the institution”.

As a highly visible and accessible campus leader, the Dean of Students is very interactive and values establishing and maintaining relationships with students, faculty, and staff while providing vision and oversight for a comprehensive and custom suite of services unique to a community of global learners. The Dean of Students is someone who sees themselves as the highest level of representation, and appellant, for students by both, advocating for, and holding accountable, the students of the Worldwide Campus.

The Dean of Students for Worldwide has a creative and inquisitive mind, not wanting to just copy practices at other institutions, but innovating new ideas that produce customized solutions that target the needs of our community of predominantly online-adult learners and military students.

Additionally, the Dean of Students is a strong student advocate who is responsible for all facets related to student success, student behavior and conduct, Title IX, Career Services, and the student experience.

Primary Job Functions and Duties:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and innovative ideas to lead the Dean of Students Office for Worldwide and safeguard, and defend, services that promote student success, retention, and persistency towards graduation and beyond. This includes being an integral, and when necessary, escalatory part of Student Sanctioning Procedures in addition to providing support, guidance, and leadership on the handling of Student Grievances, and the departments of Career Services, Student Affairs, Disability Student Services, and Student Experience.
  • Serve as a member of the Worldwide Campus Core Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Campus Chancellor and provide timely information and recommendations. Additionally, work closely with the college Deans, the Departments of Academic Innovation, Campus Operations, and key stakeholders to provide support in attaining the Strategic Goals of the Worldwide Campus and of the University.
  • Responsible, and held accountable for, Federal Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Title IX, & federal codes outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations Implementing the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989, in addition to all state & local regulatory requirements as outlined by the State Authorizations Department. Additionally, ensure compliance with the Southern Accreditation of Colleges & Schools accreditation requirements as written governing the collection, storage, confidentiality, & reporting of Student Grievances and Students of Concerns.
  • Collect and mine non-academic and non-demographic data to grow our understanding of the students enrolled at worldwide, their well-being, and their needs to develop new programs that continue to support the needs of our students and help attain the University’s Strategic goals.
  • Serve on University level committees that support the mission of the Dean of Students Office to maintain and evolve an inclusive, safe, diverse, and respected community of global learners.
  • Liaise with the Office of Global Engagement in the Daytona Beach Campus for all things Study Abroad related and Eagle Exchange related programs for the students enrolled at the Worldwide Campus
  • Please note that this position is located at the Embry-Riddle Worldwide Headquarters, located in Daytona Beach, FL. This position requires being on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and requires regular travel, both domestic and international.

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in Education Management or related field.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of student development and adult learning theories related to post-secondary education.
  • Knowledge of Student Affairs and services.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution in a diverse and distributed setting.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and moments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate employees.
  • Ability to supervise budgets and program areas.
  • Extraordinary communication skills.
  • Prior administrative/leadership experience in a distributed/online IHE environment.
  • Collaboration with students, faculty, as well as senior and executive leadership of the Worldwide Campus and the University.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Maxient and AIM systems.
  • Experience working with both traditional and non-traditional students, as well as military, and veteran populations.
  • Experience in online higher education, serving a diverse group of students.
  • Experience with Campus Solutions.
