Mitchell College is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor of Management, with a disciplinary emphasis in Sport Management. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and upper-level courses in the Division of Business, joining a collaborative, entrepreneurial faculty team using our flexible modern curriculum to help students become engaged professionals in their chosen fields. Through hands-on learning including our full-year sophomore Mlab experience and our career-focused specializations, we believe in the “dual operating system” of creativity AND structure in everything we do. We are deliberately working to become the best business teaching institution in Connecticut.
We are therefore searching for an academic unicorn: an engaged, smart, creative, thoughtful, perhaps atypical scholar-practitioner with a desire to meld your passion for teaching-focused higher education with ours, to continue our commitment to student success, and to create a legacy as part of a deeply collaborative team.
Essential Duties:
- Teach twenty-four semester hours, effectively preparing and delivering in-person classes
- Perform all duties related to course management and delivery
- Foster student success by communicating with students and members of Mitchell’s student support network
- Engage in scholarship that sustains and enriches teaching
- Assist in curriculum and program review/revision
- Participate in college meetings, committees, etc., that pertain to information, policies, and recommendations that affect the academic tenor and quality, direction, and mission of the College
- Participate in department and College-wide collaboration to further the mission of the College
Required Education and Experience:
- Doctoral degree in Business, Management, Sport Management, or a closely-related field
- Strong undergraduate teaching experience, including in Management/Sport Management
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Ability-Based Education
- Evidence of service, including department and/or college-wide service
