The School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME) in the Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, in collaboration with the School of Sustainable Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering (SCBME), seeks candidates for a tenure-track/tenured position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the area of advanced material characterization. This position is part of a larger initiative in the Gallogly College of Engineering to grow enrollment, improve retention and to support a new interdisciplinary graduate program in Materials Science and Engineering.
Candidates with expertise in utilizing advanced in-situ and operando techniques, including spectroscopy, diffraction, and/or microscopy, to elucidate fundamental structure/property relationships in materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, and/or composites are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have experience in understanding and enhancing material structure/properties (e.g., magnetic, mechanical, optical, thermal, ion transport, electrochemical, and surface/interface phenomena).
Successful candidates are expected to develop a nationally recognized research program in advanced materials characterization in collaboration with AME and SCBME faculty, teach courses for the Materials Science and Engineering graduate program and the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, demonstrate commitment to excellent and innovative instruction, and provide effective mentorship and guidance of students.

Qualifications
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in material science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or in a related field.
