Position Summary
Reporting to the Purdue University Global (PG) Provost, the Dean and Vice President (Dean) provides academic leadership, vision, and financial management for the college or school in which they are responsible. The Dean leads the pursuit of excellence in scholarship, related training and research, and serves as champion for the recruitment and success of diverse faculty, staff, and students. This position promotes interdisciplinary collaborations, cultivates community, organizational, and alumni relations, and invests in resource development and fundraising. The Dean enhances the reputation of the college or school’s programs, nationally and internationally, inclusive of understanding and mitigating legal, regulatory, accreditation, and compliance issues related to the success of all programs.
The Dean creates and leads the academic vision of the college or school with an emphasis on school growth and program innovation, as well as student support and persistence. This role provides leadership for the school’s faculty, staff, and programs. The Dean ensures the school meets its academic and financial goals, including but not limited to student and faculty persistence, program quality and growth, and creating a supportive environment which provides students a clear path to graduation. The Dean has budgetary responsibility for the school and is accountable for building and managing internal and external relationships that promote transformation.
Required Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree, with at least 10 years of experience in Higher Education, is required. This position requires 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in administration and leadership at a college or university, including in a fully online environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree in a discipline relevant to the School of Nursing. If the terminal degree is not in Nursing, then the master’s degree must be in a Nursing-related field. An active, unencumbered RN license is required.
Required skills and abilities should include:
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a high level of comfort with delegation, management, and empowering faculty and staff.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive strategic thinker.
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum development and academic policy; possesses required regulatory and accreditation knowledge for fields of study within the school/college.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and policy requirements.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment across diverse teams, departments, and Schools.

Purdue Global’s School of Nursing offers a range of nursing programs aimed at preparing students for a variety of healthcare roles. While the programs are primarily online, students are required to complete clinical hours at approved healthcare facilities. The pre-licensure clinical sites include healthcare facilities in Iowa, Maine, and Texas. The Dean oversees both the online and physical locations, with approximately 40% of their time dedicated to travel.
