Rhode Island College

The Rhode Island Council on Postsecondary Education invites candidates to apply for the President of Rhode Island College. Established in 1854 as Rhode Island’s first public institution of higher education, Rhode Island College (RIC) is a regional comprehensive public college that serves approximately 5,800 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. The college’s locations include its beautiful main 180-acre suburban campus in the vibrant city of Providence, plus three centers and a hub serving multiple regions of the state. 

RIC is known for its nationally recognized programs in liberal arts and sciences, education, nursing, and social work, which support the social and economic mobility of students and the vitality of the state. The college is also recognized for its rigorous academics, small class sizes, personalized education, and return on investment. Its mission is to provide an affordable, accessible pathway to quality higher education for students throughout the state and region, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as a wide variety of certificate programs and other professional credentials.

The President of Rhode Island College reports to the Council on Postsecondary Education and serves as a respected leader of this public institution with a liberal arts core, while working with the council to implement a progressive strategy for excellence. The next president will have a deep understanding of the mission/vision of a comprehensive public college and possess the experience, skills, and commitment required to help shape the future of RIC. This leader will exemplify the character and ethics expected in a highly visible and trusted educational and community leader.
