Detailed Job Description
The School of Information at RIT invites applications for multiple Lecturer positions, beginning January 2025 or August 2025. Successful candidates will be able to teach a range of courses in areas of high demand, including database systems, data management, data science, AI, and programming. Knowledge of project management is also desirable. In particular, we seek candidates who have experience in three or more of the following areas:

  • Database systems and management
  • Data science
  • Machine learning and AI
  • Object-oriented programming in Python and Java
  • Introductory and intermediate programming, data structures and pedagogical best practices
  • Project Management

The College:
The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences prepares students to improve lives and change the world through computing; GCCIS is home to the departments of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, School of Information, and the School of Interactive Games and Media. The Department:
The School of Information (iSchool) is one of six administrative units within the College of Computing and Information Sciences and oversees academic and curricula development for both undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in three undergraduate BS programs, three graduate programs, and two advanced certificate programs. The iSchool provides leadership, administrative, financial, and logistical support to more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students with 30 faculty and 6 staff in Rochester and provides support of the school’s degrees at RIT’s global campuses in Croatia, Kosovo, and UAE. The school demonstrates the university’s commitment to the teacher-scholar model; it is among the university leaders in terms of grant generation and publications and the faculty consists of several teaching award winners and professional service leaders, including ACM president, and ACM SIG chairs. The school is also home to several labs and research centers and plays a particularly large research and delivery role in the university’s Computing for All efforts.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a master’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute to the curriculum.
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
