President

Texas A&M University-Victoria

The Board of Regents and Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System invite nominations, applications, and expressions of interest in its search for the next President of Texas A&M University-Victoria (A&M-Victoria).

Effective September 1st, Texas A&M University-Victoria will become the newest addition to the Texas A&M University System. A&M-Victoria was founded in 1973 as part of the University of Houston System and was transferred to the Texas A&M System this year during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. The University is a Hispanic-Serving Institution located in the Coastal Bend region of Texas and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees online and on campus. The University enrolled its first freshmen and sophomores in fall 2010 and has continued to grow its presence in Victoria while maintaining its commitment to online delivery. A&M-Victoria currently enrolls 3,586 students and serves the educational needs, promotes economic well-being, and advances the community and region’s quality of life through teaching, research, and service excellence.

The Texas A&M University System is one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a budget of $7.3 billion. Through a statewide network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, Texas A&M-Fort Worth, and Texas A&M-RELLIS, the Texas A&M System educates more than 165,000 students and makes more than 25.3 million additional educational contacts through service and outreach programs each year. System-wide, research and development expenditures exceed $1.5 billion and help drive the state’s economy.

The next President will join A&M-Victoria at a time of great opportunity and excitement as the University transitions to the Texas A&M System and explores the expansion of academic offerings in agriculture, aviation, and engineering. They must be able to work collaboratively with the University community, regional partners, and the Texas A&M System to shape a vision for the institution that will fulfill its mission and advance outcomes for students and the region. The next President should bring a leadership style that promotes creative problem-solving and adaptability and effectively navigates change. This individual must have strong communication and relationship-building skills, demonstrating authenticity, passion, and a willingness to be visible and accessible.
