The Opportunity
The Department of Criminal Justice in the College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking applications for multiple 9-month, non-tenure-earning, Instructor and/or Lecturer positions. These positions are anticipated to begin in either Spring or Fall 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Criminal Justice.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and service activities.
- Engage in advising, mentoring, and community outreach to support and build department programs.
- Serve the department, college, university, discipline, and broader community.
Additional Details:
- The teaching load is four courses per semester with opportunities for summer teaching.
- Positions will be located at the UCF Main Campus in Orlando, FL.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree (for an Instructor) or Ph.D. (for a Lecturer) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) alone is not an appropriate degree for this position.
The selected candidate must demonstrate a record of effective teaching in face-to-face and/or web-based formats.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with the following qualifications will receive preference; however, we encourage anyone who meets the minimum qualifications to apply.
- The ability to teach multiple courses within the graduate and/or undergraduate criminal justice core curriculum.
- Experience teaching upper-division undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice.
- Experience teaching graduate courses in Criminal Justice.
- Experience teaching large classes.
- Experience utilizing various teaching modalities and technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of students.
- Strong communication and presentation skills that demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning.
