The Theatre program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for an instructor position in Directing. The successful candidate is expected to have considerable teaching and directing experience and a commitment to educating undergraduates from diverse backgrounds. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non tenure-track position that begins on August 18, 2025. The standard teaching load is a 4/4 with additional service requirements, including load assignments for directing.
The person in this position should have experience directing a diverse range of plays and musicals and the ability to teach various levels of directing and acting courses as well as ones from their area of expertise. They will direct one production per semester, collaborating with students, faculty, and guest artist production teams. Responsibilities also include mentoring undergraduate student directors, assistant directors, and design and technical students alone or with other faculty members through the production process. This position will maintain active service within the department and university and will be encouraged to build meaningful collaborations on campus and within the local arts community.

Required Qualifications
- MA in Theatre, or an equivalent degree in a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of university-level teaching experience (including graduate teaching assistantships).
- Evidence of success as a director.
Preferred Qualifications
- MFA or Ph.D.
- Professional directing experience.
- Training/experience in current professional methods.
- Experience recruiting students.

Salary
$49,000-$51,000
