Essential Functions
The Grace Abbott School of Social Work (GASSW), a part of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO), invites applications for an advanced Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position with an anticipated start date of August 2024. The Assistant/Associate Professor will teach across graduate and undergraduate social work curricula, engage in research and scholarly activities, and provide departmental, university, and professional service, including collaborating with colleagues across campus/es and the community at large. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

The GASSW offers the BSSW and MSW degrees and has strong commitments and investments in research and teaching in several areas including global engagement, children and families, mental health practice, and gerontology. The school offers dual degrees with Public Administration, Public Health, and Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Required Qualifications
Applicants should have an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution and a doctoral degree in social work, or a closely allied discipline. They should have a record of research and teaching sufficient to merit appointment as an Assistant Professor (within a few years of tenure) or Associate Professor. They should also have a track record of significant community engagement. They should be comfortable working with colleagues across multiple disciplines and campuses. Candidates will be expected to have a strong history of funded research and scholarship in their own substantive area of interest and an interest in continuing to pursue external funding for their research. Also required is evidence of ability to build collegial working relationships with colleagues across multiple disciplines and campuses is important and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
A scholarly portfolio consistent with expectations for appointment as Associate Professor. A strong track record of obtaining external funding is also preferred. Preferred candidates also have experience developing and teaching distance education courses.
