About the Division
The Libraries’ Research, Instruction, and Access Services Division (RIAS) supports UO students, faculty, and staff by building and delivering relevant collections and services; facilitating access to local and remotely-held library resources; implementing and participating in innovative outreach and engagement activities; providing online and face-to-face information and data literacy instruction; and promoting access to affordable course materials. RIAS encompasses six major service areas: Access Services, Data Services, E-learning and Open Education Resources, Research and Instructional Services, Undergraduate Engagement, and five branch libraries.

Position Summary

UO Libraries is seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking, and customer-focused individual to join the Research, Instruction, and Access Services Division as the next Lending Services Manager. We are seeking a candidate who embraces change and innovation, is eager to welcome challenges, and has experience in library public service. The Lending Services Manager collaborates with fellow members of the departmental management team to provide administration and management of the Lending Services unit in Knight Library.

Responsibilities include providing functional and strategic leadership to meet the changing needs of UO Libraries’ customers; managing up to 4.5 FTE non-exempt, represented employees and approximately 15 FTE part-time student assistants; helping ensure the safety and security of library resources and users; understanding and appropriately responding to the needs of library customers; helping manage and oversee public services at the Knight Library; administering extended hours during academic terms; and managing the maintenance of Knight Library’s physical collection.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years providing public services in libraries (e.g., circulation, course reserves, interlibrary loan, reference).
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic library experience.
  • Extensive use of the Alma/Primo integrated library system.
  • Administrative use of the Springshare LibCal space management system.
  • Proficiency in multiple library systems (e.g., integrated library system, interlibrary loan management system, institutional repository).
