The Department of Education in the College of Education, Human Performance and Health atUSCUpstate invites applications for Assistant Professor of Early Childhood/Elementary Education. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with a start date of August 16, 2024. The selected candidate will prepare future teachers for certification in early childhood education (PK-3rd grade) and elementary education (2nd-6th grade, in addition to advisement and field-based supervisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a team of teachers and researchers working collaboratively to recruit and retain high quality early childhood and elementary teacher candidates as well as support local early childhood and elementary grades in-service teachers. The College’s faculty is committed to working collegially with staff and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Candidates interested in addressing barriers to schooling and equitable outcomes for all students are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or closely related field.ABDcandidates with a planned completion date no later than August 15, 2024, are encouraged to apply. A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in PK – 6th grade classrooms is required. A defined research agenda with presentations and/or publications related to early childhood or elementary education is required. A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualification: At least one year of experience teaching at the undergraduate level and working with pre-service teachers, as well as significant professional engagement with early childhood/elementary education faculty in public schools is preferred. A record of the ability to identify and practice assessment measures for evaluating program outcomes, as well as teachers’ impact on student learning in early childhood/elementary education environment is preferred.
