The Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering at the University of South Carolina Upstate invites applications for Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with a start date of August 16, 2024. Areas of interest are physical chemistry, biophysical chemistry, and/or computational chemistry. The successful candidate will teach a 4-4 load including undergraduate senior-level physical chemistry courses as well as lower-level chemistry courses for majors and non-majors, develop a scholarly research program involving undergraduate students, advise undergraduate students, and participate in service (internal as well as external). The Division awards anACS-certified Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a non-ACS-certified Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. The Division maintains an array of modern instrumentation including a Bruker 400 MHzNMRspectrometer, two NicoletFTIRspectrometers withATRaccessories, a ShimadzuGCMS, a ShimadzuHPLCwithPDA/fluorescence detection systems, a Jasco spectrofluorometer, a Perkin-Elmer Lambda 750 UV/Vis/NIRspectrometer, a TA Q50TGA, a TA Q20DSC, a BioRad ChemiDoc Imager System, BioRad Termocycler, Keyence Inverted Fluorescence Microscope, an Agilent BioTek SynergyHTXReader, a -80 freezer, plus a Metrohm ion chromatograph, aCEMmicrowave digester, and assorted UV/Vis spectrophotometers.
