Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant/Associate Professor, Teaching, Kinesiology, Health & Sport Studies at its Detroit campus location.

Position Purpose:
The Division of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Studies in the College of Education at Wayne State University seeks a full-time, 9-month Assistant/Associate Professor – Teaching (non-tenure track) with specialization in Sport Administration and Management to teach courses, advise students, and provide service to the program, division, college, and sport management community/field.
Essential Functions:
- Teach face-to-face, hybrid and/or online courses in the B.S. in Sport Management and M.A. in Sports Administration programs.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students related to coursework, internships, and career preparation.
- Coordinate some undergraduate-level initiatives and programs (i.e. Honors option, student organization, professional development activities, student success initiatives, etc.).
- Assist division faculty, staff and administrators with student recruitment and retention initiatives and program assessment.
- Serve on division and college committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Sport Management, Sports Administration, Kinesiology, or related field is required; Ph.D. students who have successfully finished their coursework doctoral coursework and are actively completing their dissertation are eligible for consideration.
- Evidence of effective teaching experience in higher education, including in face-to-face, hybrid, and fully-online instructional formats.
- Evidence of innovative pedagogical approaches, including cutting-edge course content, engaging instructional designs, interactive methods of teaching and course delivery, and prompt and effective communication with students.
- Evidence of experience and effectiveness in the use of Canvas or related virtual learning management systems.
- Experience advising undergraduate and graduate students in coursework, internships, and career preparation.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse groups of colleagues and students.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
