Joseph Bouie Jr. Appointed Chancellor of Southern University at New Orleans

Dr. Bouie, a Louisiana state senator since 2020, previously served as chancellor of Southern University at New Orleans, but was dismissed two years into his tenure. He is set to begin his second stint as the HBCU's top administrator on August 1.

Johnny M. Moore Appointed President of Rust College in Mississippi

Larry Johnson Jr. is the New President of Bronx Community College

A Trio of New Provosts at HBCUs

The new provosts are Catherine Edmonds at North Carolina A&T State University, A. Clifton Myles at Talladega College in Alabama, and Edward Hill at Voorhees University in South Carolina.

Manya Whitaker is the Fifteenth President of Colorado College

Jason Geary Is the New Provost of Rutgers University

The new deans are Mary McGriff at New Jersey City University, Vaughn Crichlow at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, Kimberly Jones at Howard University in Washington, D.C., RoSusan Bartee at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, and Kwamie Dunbar at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.

Daryl Minus is the New President of Eastern Shore Community College in Virginia

The new deans are Raquel Monroe at Howard University, Randy Bradley at Belmont University in Nashville, Alexia Hudson-Ward at Georgetown University, and Jewel Bronaugh at Virginia State University.

Joyce Ester Appointed the Seventh President of Governors State University in Illinois

New Dean Appointments for Five Black Scholars in Academia

The new deans are Keisha Pollack Porter at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Cora Bragg Thompson at Savannah State University in Georgia, Nancy Kirkpatrick at Smith College in Massachusetts, Lionel Howard at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and Jessica Brooks at Virginia State University.

Albert Mosley Named the Eighth President of Bethune-Cookman University

The appointments are Kamau Siwatu at Texas Tech University; Courtney Anderson at Georgia State University; Michael Bolden at the University of California, Berkeley; Jide Wintoki at the University of Kansas; and Marla Peppers at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Tonya Smith-Jackson Appointed Chancellor of Rutgers University-Newark

Tonya Smith-Jackson comes to her new role from North Carolina A&T State University, where she serves as provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs. She is slated to take the helm of Rutgers University-Newark on August 1.

John Nunes Is the Ninth President of California Lutheran University

Stevie Lawrence is slated to become provost of Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina this summer, and Chanta Haywood was recently elevated from interim provost to permanent provost of Coppin State University in Baltimore.

Charles Lee Isbell, Jr. Appointed Chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Dr. Isbell is slated to assume his new role on August 1. He said, “I’m energized by this chance to serve the citizens of Illinois and advance the mission of learning, discovery, engagement and economic development."
