Yale Library Acquires Digital Collection of Langston Hughes Papers
In a recent December upload, the Yale University Library added a collection of papers from Black poet Langston Hughes to the school's online archive. The collection contains correspondence between Hughes and other authors and civil rights activists of his time.
In Memoriam: Percy J. Vaughn, Jr., 1932-2018
Percy J. Vaughn, Jr. was the founding dean of Alabama State University's College of Business Administration. He joined the faculty at the university in 1975 and served as a professor of marketing until his retirement 35 years later in 2010.
Clark Atlanta University’s Ronald E. Mickens Wins the 2018 Blackwell-Tapia Prize
Dr. Mickens is the Distinguished Fuller E. Callaway Professor in the department of physics at Clark Atlanta University. He is being honored for being a role model for mathematical scientists and students from underrepresented groups.
In Memoriam: Anna Lee Cooke, 1923-2014
Anna L. Cooke, who served on the staff at Lane College, a historically Black educational institution in Jackson, Tennessee, for a quarter century, died on June 28 at the Jackson Madison County Hospital. She was 91 years old.
