Grants were awarded to Shelley White-Means of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Howard University, the University of California Los Angeles, and the American Cancer Society. Additionally, The First Bank has awarded grants to 12 historically Black colleges and universities in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
Charles has been serving as vice chancellor for student success for the Alabama Community College System. Earlier in his career, he was director of admissions and enrollment management at the University of West Alabama and director of admissions and recruitment for the Montgomery, Alabama, campus of Auburn University.

Dr. Sykes has been serving as interim president of the college since February 2016. He has served as president of Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville since 2010.
Since 2010, Dr. Sykes has served as president of Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville. Earlier in his career, President Sykes was dean of students at Meridian Community College in Mississippi.
Valerie Richardson has been serving as interim president of the college since August. She is the former vice president for institutional advancement and student services at Gadsden State Community College in Gadsden, Alabama.
She has served as an Alabama state representative since 1970 and was the former president of Bishop State Community College. She held a doctorate from the University of Alabama.
