Howard Spearman Named the First African American President of Rock Valley College
Most recently, Dr. Spearman served as the vice president of student affairs and chief student services officer for Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin. From 2011-2019, Dr. Spearman served in several administrative roles at Rock Valley College.
In Memoriam: Lenard Wells, 1950-2020
Dr. Wells began teaching criminal justice at the University of Memphis in 2013. Before coming to Memphis, he was appointed by the governor to serve as the Parole Board Chief in Wisconsin. He also served as a lieutenant with the Milwaukee Police Department for 27 years.

Janette M. Braverman is the new dean of the College of Business and Management, External Partnerships at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and Maurice Charles has been named dean of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel at the University of Chicago.
Syracuse University’s Marcelle Haddix Wins Outstanding Book Award From AACTE
Dr. Haddix is being honored for her book Cultivating Racial and Linguistic Diversity in Literacy Teacher Education: Teachers Like Me. Dr. Haddix will be honored at the association's 70th annual meeting in Baltimore.
