Grants were awarded to Shelley White-Means of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Howard University, the University of California Los Angeles, and the American Cancer Society. Additionally, The First Bank has awarded grants to 12 historically Black colleges and universities in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
Leon Prieto, Kofi Afrifah, and Andrea Moore have been appointed to new academic positions at Clayton University, Bowie State University, and Savannah State University, respectively.
Nathan Cochran was appointed director of athletics at South Carolina State University. Nehemiah Yisrael was hired as director of procurement and property control at Morgan State University in Baltimore and Jermaine Rolle is the new director of athletics at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.
Dr. McLeod also holds the rank of full professor in the university’s department of psychology. She joined Clayton State following her role as vice president of economic and academic development at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Taking on new administrative roles are Jermaine Rolle at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, Rita L. Walters at Montclair State University in New Jersey, Juan McGruder at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Lucreta Tribune at Alcorn State University in Mississippi, and LaMarcus D. Howard at North Carolina Central University.
Since 2019, Dr. Clayton has been president of Atlanta Metropolitan State College. Previously, he was vice president of student affairs at Georgia Southern University. Earlier, he was vice chancellor for student affairs at Indiana University Northwest and vice president for student affairs at Armstrong State University which was merged into Georgia Southern University.
Dr. Stuart most recently served as the president of Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. In 2016, he was named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. Before joining the staff at Fort Valley State University, Dr. Stuart served on the faculty at West Virginia State Community and Technical College.
Leon Prieto, an associate professor in the College of Business at Clayton State University in Georgia, and Simone Phipps, an associate professor in the School of Business at Middle Georgia State University, were named the winners of the Breakthrough Idea Award from Thinkers50, a London based organization that ranks the world’s top management thinkers.
The Henry E. Frye Distinguished Professorship is named for an American judge and politician who served as the first African American chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Judge Frye and his wife, Shirley, are graduates of North Carolina A&T State University and established the endowed faculty position.
Taking on new roles are La Toya Hart at Jackson State University in Mississippi, Ivory W. Lyles at Oregon State University, Erin H. Moore at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, Leon C. Prieto at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, and Nicholl Montgomery at Simmons University in Boston.
Taking on new roles are Cletis Earle at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Sherwin E. James at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, and Marlon C. Lynch at the University of Utah.
Leon Prieto of Clayton State University in Georgia was named an associate research fellow at the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. Adrienne Morgan was appointed as an associate vice president of equity and inclusion at the University of Rochester and Professor Calvin R. Walker was named executive vice chancellor at Southern University in Louisiana.
