Here is this week’s news of grants or gifts to historically Black colleges and universities or for programs of particular interest to African Americans in higher education.
Williams held administrative posts at Bloomfield College in New Jersey and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth before joining the staff at Rowan University in 1984. He remained on the staff at the university until 2008.
Taking on new roles as diversity officers are Tacquice Wiggan Davis at the College of New Jersey, Phillip Cockrell at Cleveland Stae University in Ohio, Felysha Jenkins at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Nickey Woods at the University of Southern California School of Law, and Shawnboda Mead at the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Repollet has been serving as the New Jersey Commissioner of Education. From 2014 to 2018, he served as superintendent of the Asbury Park School District. Previously, he served as principal of Carteret High School n New Jersey.
The three African Americans appointed to new administrative posts are James A. Felton III at The College of New Jersey, Nadirah Pippen at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and Cheryl A. Brown at Stanford University.
The Black Cultural Center at Purdue University has been designated as a "Distinctive Destination" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Purdue's Black Cultural Center is only the sixth location in Indiana to receive this honor.
Taking on new duties are Sharon Beverly at the College of New Jersey, Joslyn DiPasalegne at South Carolina State, August Washington at Vanderbilt, Blake Gaines at Mississippi Valley State, and Aaron Taylor of Saint Louis University.
