Dr. Boston was a scholar of race and ethnicity studies. At California State University, Sacramento, he directed the Pan-African studies program, as well as the Black Serving Institute Initiative. He also served as editor-in-chief of African and Black Diaspora: An International Journal.

John Dozier Appointed the Twenty-First President of Columbia College in South Carolina

Dr. Dozier has been serving as community and equity officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before taking on that role in 2020, he was chief diversity officer and senior associate provost at the University of South Carolina and president of Kennedy-King College in Chicago.

Three Black Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to University Dean Positions

Martine Kei Green-Rogers was appointed dean of The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago. Michael Abazinge was appointed dean of the School of the Environment at Florida A&M University and Pero G. Dagbovie was named associate provost for graduate and postdoctoral studies and dean of the Graduate School at Michigan State University.

Steve Stoute Will Be the Twenty-Fifth President of Canisius College in Buffalo, New York

Stoute currently serves as vice president for strategic initiatives and chief of staff at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Stoute immigrated to the United States in 2000 to attend Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

Tatum Thomas currently serves as senior associate dean of student affairs at Columbia University's School of Professional Studies. Prior to her current role, she served as the director of academic services at New York University's School of Professional Studies.

In Memoriam: Gladys Styles Johnston, 1938-2018

Craig Boise Named the Next Dean of the College of Law at Syracuse University

Since 2011, Professor Boise has been serving as dean of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University in Ohio. Earlier, he served on the law school faculty at DePaul University in Chicago and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Since 2008, Dr. Isiaah Crawford has served as provost of Seattle University. Previously, Dr. Crawford served on the faculty at Loyola University in Chicago for more than 20 years and was chair of the department of psychology and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
