Beginning in the role of president-elect designate, Dr. Means will serve as key leader of the National Rural Education Association for a five-year term. His career has been dedicated to advancing education for underrepresented students, particularly in STEM.
ACPA - College Student Educators International is a professional organization dedicated to advancing student affairs and engaging college students. Dr. McElderry, dean of student inclusive excellence at Elon University, will lead the association for one year.

Donnor was appointed the Fred Huby Memorial Professor of Education at the College of William and Mary and Sheila Otieno has been honored with the Distinguished Emerging Scholar in Religious Studies professorship at Elon University in North Carolina.
Shaina Phenix, an assistant professor of English at Elon University in North Carolina, is the winner of the 2023 Miller Williams Poetry Prize from the University of Arkansas Press. Phenix will receive a cash prize, and her manuscript To Be Named Something Else will be published in the Miller Williams Poetry Series in the spring of 2023.
Since 2018, Dr. Ford has been serving as dean of School of Communications at Elon University in North Carolina. Before becoming dean at Elon, she was a professor of public relations in the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in New York.
Jonathan A. McElderry was appointed dean of student inclusive excellence at Elon University in North Carolina. Trachette Jackson is the assistant vice president for research for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at the University of Michigan and Risë Nelson was appointed director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Yale University Library.
Occupants of the vehicles were heard to yell "White Power!" as they passed through campus. The protestors also yelled "No they don't" as onlookers who held Black Lives Matter signs.
According to the research, Black women earn only 2.9 percent of all STEM bachelor's degrees in the United States. This is far below the rate of White women, despite the fact that White women and Black women are equally likely to express an interest in STEM fields at the beginning of their college careers.
Dr. Oliver is the former president of Mississippi Valley State University. Earlier, she served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Edward Waters College and vice president for academic affairs at Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. She has also been on the faculty at Elon University in North Carolina.
The five Black scholars appointed to dean posts are Rochelle L. Ford at Elon University in North Carolina, Emile M. Townes at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Darryl Scriven at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, Tomiko Brown-Nagin at Harvard University, and Laura Kohn-Wood at the University of Miami.
Interviews with African Americans in rural high schools found that students overwhelmingly felt that they had encouragement and support to go to college, yet didn't have access to academically rigorous classes or enough one-on-one time with a counselor to get help with the college admission process.
Students will spend their first three years at North Carolina A&T, studying a pre-law curriculum. They will spend the next two and a half years at Elon's law school. Successful completion will allow students to earn a bachelor's degree and a juris doctorate in five and a half years.
