In Memoriam: Ramona Edelin, 1945-2024

Dr. Edelin founded the first African American studies program at Northeastern University in 1972. She is credited for introducing the term "African American" into American vernacular.

David C. Howse Appointed the Tenth President of the California College of the Arts

Since 2015, Howse has served as vice president in Office of the Arts at Emerson College in Boston. He also was executive director of ArtsEmerson, and served as special advisor to the president. He will become president of the California College of the Arts in December.

Five Black Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to New Faculty Positions

The five Black scholars in new faculty posts are Amanda McLeroy at the University of Rochester in New York, Jabari Asim at Emerson College in Boston, Tara T. Green at the University of Houston, Dawn Bragg at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and Erik Carpenter in the College of Visual Arts at California State University, Fullerton.

The Next Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont

Most recently Dr. Noma Anderson was dean of the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Earlier, she was dean of the School of Health Sciences at Florida International University in Miami.
