During her 30-year career at Fresno State, Dr. Oputa served as director of the Center for Women and Culture and director of the Central Valley Cultural Heritage Institute. She retired as director of the Cross Cultural and Gender Center in 2021.
Taking on new duties relating to diversity are Rashanda Booker at Fresno State University in California, Kenny Emmanuel Yarbrough at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, and Elwood Watson of East Tennessee State University.
Michelle Knight-Manuel has been appointed dean of the College of Education at the University of Denver. Rolston St. Hilaire will be the new dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Fresno State University and Anderson Sunda-Meya was named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Xavier University in New Orleans.
Terrance J. Turney was appointed director of athletics at Fresno State University in California and Damon Evans was named director of athletics at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Nadia Lewis and Jamila Ahmed, African American students at Fresno State University in California, placed first and second at the recent Henry Clay Invitational Debates held at the University of Kentucky.
