The five Black scholars who aer taking on new roles are Khadene Harris at Rice University in Houston, Nakia Melecio at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Bettina Drake at Washington University in St. Louis, Arlette Ngoubene Atioky at Goucher College in Maryland, and Kandi Hill-Clarke at the University of Memphis.

Albert Bimper was appointed executive dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of North Texas. Ruth A. Hodges has been named dean of the library and information services at South Carolina State University and Justin R. Smith was appointed dean of students at Goucher College in Baltimore.

Dr. Cornish has been serving as interim president since August 30, 2021. From 2018 to 2021, Dr. Cornish served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the college. Earlier, she was associate provost for undergraduate studies at Goucher College in Baltimore.

Valerie Boyd was an award-winning author and served as the Charlayne Hunter-Gault Distinguished Writer in Residence and director of the master of fine arts in narrative nonfiction program at the University of Georgia.

Taking on new administrative roles are David Valentine at Goucher College in Maryland, Ashley Pallie at the California Institute of Technology, Veronica Creech at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, Alfred L. Norris at Talladega College in Alabama, Charlotte Fant Pegues at the University of Mississippi, and Veronica Cohen at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Cornish has been serving as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Ithaca College since 2018. Earlier, she was associate provost for undergraduate studies at Goucher College in Baltimore. She joined the faculty at Goucher in 1998 as an instructor of English. 

The new deans are Taléa R. Drummer-Ferrell at Kent State University in Ohio, Dorie J. Gilbert at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, Cheryl Anderson at the University of California, San Diego, and Aarika Camp at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Cornish has been serving since 2014 as associate provost for undergraduate studies at Goucher College in Baltimore. She joined the faculty at Goucher in 1998 as an instructor of English. Dr. Cornish will take on her new duties at Ithaca College on July 1.
